At AlohaSolar, S.A., we are committed to innovation and sustainable development in the energy sector. Our pre-project represents a firm step towards a cleaner and more efficient future for Panama and the region.

About our project

The AlohaSolar project is designed to promote the generation of renewable energy with an installed capacity of 5.25 MWp, taking advantage of 7,840 solar panels with a peak power of 670 Wp each. With this initiative, we seek not only to optimize energy consumption, but also to actively contribute to the reduction of the carbon footprint and the growth of solar energy in the country.

At AlohaSolar, we are committed to large-scale renewable energy generation. Our solar photovoltaic plant, designed under the highest technical standards, will have an installed capacity of 4.2 MWac, complying with the Panamanian Photovoltaic Grid Code and the regulations of the National Interconnected System (SIN).

To reach this capacity, the plant will be equipped with 7,840 solar panels of 670 Wp each, achieving a total installed power of 5.25 MWp. The energy conversion will be carried out by means of 28 state-of-the-art inverters, specifically the SMA Sunny Highpower PEAK3 150-US1 (600V) model or one of equivalent characteristics, guaranteeing an efficient transformation of the energy captured by the solar modules.

At AlohaSolar, we are driving the energy transition with the construction of our solar power plant, located in the district of San Carlos, West Panama. This innovative project will harness the sun's energy to generate electricity in an efficient and sustainable manner.

Our plant will feature photovoltaic panels mounted on strategically designed structures, capturing solar energy and transforming it into electricity. Initially, this energy is generated in direct current, then converted into alternating current through inverters and finally raised to an optimal voltage at transformer stations.

To ensure an efficient connection to the power grid, the energy produced will be transported to a Switching Center (SC) within the plant, from where it will be channeled to the Point of Interconnection (POI). There, it will be integrated into the 34.5 kV medium voltage line of EDEMET, S.A. (Naturgy), ensuring that the energy generated reaches Panamanian homes and businesses.

As promoters of this project, AlohaSolar is committed to building a robust and efficient infrastructure. We will implement an overhead connection line with concrete poles and all the necessary equipment, complying with the highest technical and regulatory standards.

With this project, we reaffirm our vision of promoting the use of renewable energies and contributing to the development of a greener and more sustainable future for Panama. 🌞⚡.

AlohaSolar: Clean Energy for a Sustainable Future

Why invest in solar energy in Panama?

Panama offers an ideal environment for the development of solar projects due to its economic stability, strategic location and favorable investment policies.

🌎 Financial and political stability

Panama is recognized as one of the most stable countries in the world, with a dollarized economy, low inflation and a solid financial sector.

Growing energy demand

Energy demand is expected to continue to grow at a rate of 7.4% per year until 2050, driven by industrial development and population growth.

🔗 Strategic location and interconnection

Located between North and South America, Panama plays a key role in the interconnection of electricity grids, facilitating energy trade in the region.

📈 Favorable investment climate

Panama encourages foreign investment with incentives that include:
✅ Equal rights for local and foreign investors
✅ There are no restrictions on the repatriation of capital or profits.
✅ Tax exemption on the transfer of funds to the country

💰 Automatic income and priority payment

Solar energy has priority in the electricity sector, which guarantees immediate consumption and payment. In addition, the project does not require sales or marketing personnel, as revenues come exclusively from the automatic generation and sale of electricity.

INCREASE IN PANAMA'S ENERGY DEMAND

The National Energy Plan (PNE) 2015-2050, promoted by the government of Panama and the United Nations Development Program, proposes that by 2050 at least 70% of the energy matrix should be renewable resources, with a focus on solar energy and wind resources, complemented by other sources of generation. There is also a steady increase in electricity consumption in Panama. Energy consumption has grown by 54% in the last decade, from 4.8 million MWh in 2001 to 7.4 million in 2011. Since 2009, energy consumption has grown by an average of 7% per year and amounted to 9.8 TWh in 2019.

Total electricity consumption including all sectors (private, commercial, government, industrial and public electrification facilities) in Panama in 2016 was 8,588 GWh. Thus, per capita consumption in 2016 was 2,127 kWh, almost double the average consumption in Central America (1,170 kWh per person). According to the updated National Energy Plan (2017), total installed capacity and electricity generation in Panama should increase to 4,746 MW and 16,098 GWh respectively by 2030.
